Anirban Basu Anirban Basu, founder of Sage Policy Group, is a leading economist known for his sharp insights and sense of humor. Twice named one of Maryland’s 50 most influential people, he served as Chairman of the Maryland Economic Development Commission from 2014 to 2021. He is the Chief Economist for multiple organizations nationwide and lectures as Goucher College’s Economist in Residence. Dr. Basu holds degrees from Georgetown, Harvard, and the University of Maryland, with expertise spanning public policy, law, and health economics.
