Board of Directors
Board of Directors
Dear Member and Friends,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I welcome you to Talbot County and invite you to learn more about the great work being done on behalf of our local businesses and community by the Talbot County Chamber of Commerce. Our Chamber was formed over 50 years ago based on the belief that local businesses can strengthen each other, our local economy, and our county by working together. While much has changed in that 50 years, that sense of ‘shared community’ remains in our mission statement today:
The Talbot County Chamber of Commerce is a champion for business, existing to stimulate local economic opportunity and enhancing the quality of life of our community. We pride ourselves on being the leading advocate for business in Talbot County. We hold dear to our core values, professionalism, integrity, teamwork, innovation, respect, responsive customer service and trust.
Over the years, the Chamber has done great work to encourage business to business networking, to promote economic development through sound legislation, to foster our next generation of business and community leaders, and to continually improve our county through the support of local community initiatives. Throughout this publication you will see examples of each of these.
While we are proud of what we have accomplished over the years, we know it is important as a Chamber that we continually look for ways to improve our service to our members and our community. In 2018 the Chamber will undertake a strategic planning initiative that will help us set our course for the next 3 to 5 years. To be successful in this endeavor, it is critical that we learn what is important to you, our members. During this year we will be asking you to tell us what the Chamber is doing well and where we can improve. Equally important, we hope to learn from our non-members why they haven’t joined and what we could do to entice them to become members. It is only through feedback such as this that we can make the Chamber an even greater asset to its members and to Talbot County.
To those current Chamber Members, I thank you for your support and participation in Chamber activities over the years. To those who are just learning about the Chamber, I encourage you to visit the Chamber Office or better yet, speak to one of our board members to learn how the Talbot County Chamber of Commerce can be an asset to your business as well.
Wishing each of you great success in 2018,
Tim Jones, Chair
Talbot County Chamber of Commerce Board of Trustees
