A day filled with family, friendship, laughter, and generosity made the 9th Annual Conor’s Project Sporting Clay Shoot and Crab Feast an event to remember. This year’s event raised a record-breaking $110,000 to benefit the children and families of Critchlow Adkins Children’s Centers.
Conor’s Project was started in 2018 by Rennie Gay and his family in memory of his grandson, Conor, who tragically passed away in a swimming pool accident. What began as a way to honor Conor’s life has grown into a very special community tradition, bringing people together each year to have fun, support local children, and continue Conor’s legacy by making a difference for children in Talbot County.
Funds raised through Conor’s Project help provide life-saving swimming and water safety lessons for children at Critchlow Adkins, along with educational, enriching opportunities and tuition assistance for families who are working and still struggling financially.
This year’s event was once again generously hosted by The Point at Pintail. The day kicked off with the Sporting Clay Shoot, where participants competed individually and in teams of four. After the competition, the fun continued with a crab feast and barbecue for participants, families, and friends. GW Hall and Sons generously provided the crabs, while Catering by Jamie served hot dogs and hamburgers. Lee Coulby of Sight and Sounds kept the afternoon festive with music and plenty of energy.
“To see so many people come back year after year is incredible,” said Critchlow Adkins Executive Director Cristy Morrell. “There is so much love, and we are so very grateful to Rennie and his family, and to everyone who continues to show up with such generosity and heart.”
