  • Neighborhood Service Center builds community support with Second Chance Thrift Shop donation

The Neighborhood Service Center of Talbot County recently received a donation from Second Chance Thrift Shop in St. Michaels, adding to the community support that helps NSC assist neighbors facing financial hardship.

Shop owners and co-founders Pam Phillips and Karen Moaney presented the contribution to NSC Deputy Director Yvette Robinson. The gift supports an organization that connects Talbot County residents with food, housing, clothing, energy assistance, employment support, and other services.

“Community support helps us reach more neighbors and respond to their needs,” said Andy Hollis, executive director of the Neighborhood Service Center of Talbot County. “We’re grateful to Pam and Karen for this contribution and welcome other businesses and organizations interested in partnering with us.”

Community partnerships help NSC respond to overlapping needs. A household struggling to pay rent may also need groceries or help keeping the electricity on. Support from local partners gives NSC more resources to help residents address those challenges.

Financial gifts, donated goods, volunteer time, and referrals each contribute to NSC’s work. More partners mean more opportunities to connect residents with assistance.

The Neighborhood Service Center of Talbot County is the county’s designated Community Action Agency, helping individuals and families become self-sufficient through food, clothing, housing, energy assistance, emergency services, employment support, and youth and family programs.
