  • UM Shore Regional Health names Hobbs Chief Quality Officer
     
    University of Maryland Shore Regional Health recently named Sherri Hobbs, MSM, MSN, RN, CPHQ, CPPS, as its new Chief Quality Officer. Hobbs has been the interim Chief Quality Officer since December 2019, after joining UM SRH as the Director of Patient Safety in February 2019.
     
    “We are incredibly lucky to have someone with Ms. Hobbs’ experience and successes as our Chief Quality Officer and as a part of our senior leadership team here at University of Maryland Shore Regional Health,” says William Huffner, MD, senior vice president, Medical Affairs, and Chief Medical Officer. “She brings knowledge, passion and vision to this role. The impact she already has made at UM SRH is evident and her positive leadership is easy to see among her team.”
     
    Prior to joining UM SRH, Hobbs spent three years as director of Continuous Measurement and Improvement at Union Hospital of Cecil County, where she was responsible for quality, performance improvement, data management and infection prevention. Hobbs has more than 11 years of progressive quality and patient safety leadership experience in hospitals and ambulatory settings, developing and growing programs related to high reliability, adverse event management, caregiver distress and burnout, and robust performance improvement.
     
    Hobbs earned a diploma in nursing from Beebe School of Nursing, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wilmington University, a Master of Science in Nursing Education from South University and Master of Science in Management in Healthcare Administration from Wilmington University.
     
    She has been a registered nurse for 16 years and has a clinical background in perioperative nursing. Hobbs holds certifications in health care quality and patient safety. She is the current president of the Maryland Association for Healthcare Quality and serves on the Education Commission for the National Association for Healthcare Quality.
