  • TCPS RESPONDS TO COVID-19 OUTBREAK

In response to the challenging circumstances of these past couple weeks surrounding COVID-19 and out of an abundance of caution, Talbot County Public Schools has decided to take additional preventative measures to ensure the safety and well-being of staff, students, and community.  In regard to extra-curricular activities and community events in TCPS schools, the following actions will be implemented effective Friday, March 13, 2020:

    ·      Suspend all indoor after school and weekend events open to the public.

    ·      Discourage spectator attendance at outdoor athletic events.

    ·      Thoroughly review approval of building use requests from our community partners.

“Please trust that the decisions made concerning the handling of COVID-19 within TCPS will be consistent with our values – placing health and safety above all – and will represent our best judgement as we adapt to this rapidly changing situation,” said Dr. Kelly L. Griffith, Superintendent.  “I appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience as we navigate this uncharted territory.”

TCPS will continue to rely on the expertise and support from staff from the Office of Health Services, and from the Talbot County Department of Health, the Maryland Department of Health, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  Any decision made regarding the closing of schools or the altering of the school day will be made in partnership with the Talbot County Department of Health and the State Superintendent of Schools.
