APPLICATIONS NOW AVAILABLE FOR ROTARY CLUB OF EASTON
    CENTENNIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Easton, Md. - The Rotary Club of Easton, Md. is proud to announce that applications are now being accepted for the newly established Rotary Club of Easton, Maryland Centennial Scholarship that provides financial assistance to Talbot County residents pursuing a career or advancement in a vocational or trade.

This new scholarship is one of several initiatives celebrating the Club’s one hundredth year.

“When we first starting planning projects for our centennial, we were searching for initiatives that would make a significant and long-term impact on Easton and Talbot County,” said Ron Flohr, Centennial Committee Chair. “In our conversations with our members, community leaders and stakeholders, we kept hearing that critical investments are needed in Talbot County’s workforce, especially in the areas of skilled trades and healthcare, to sustain our local economy.”

After considering multiple options, the Club elected to establish a needs-based scholarship in partnership with the Mid-Shore Community Foundation to enable Talbot County residents to obtain the necessary certification for a trade, vocation or career.

“When we asked for help, our members and our community enthusiastically responded,” said Stuart Bounds, Centennial Scholarship Committee Chair. “Thanks to the generosity of our members, local businesses and individuals, we were able to establish the scholarship in February with an initial endowment of $100,000, and that amount has grown to $500,000 to date. Our Club is very excited to make our first awards this fall to coincide with our Centennial celebrations.”

Rotary Club of Easton, Maryland Centennial Scholarship applicants must be Talbot County residents and must been seeking training or post-secondary education at an accredited institute of technology, vocational school, trade school or a two-year college or seeking to develop skills for employment through accredited seminars, workshops, courses or customized training. Training or post-secondary education must lead to certification appropriate to an applicant’s chosen trade or career.

Complete eligibility information and applications are available on the Mid-Shore Community Foundation’s website at https://www.mscf.org/trades/career-training-scholarship.
