Shore Health System is the primary provider of healthcare services for the entire Mid-Shore region. The Memorial Hospital at Easton is part of a regional, not-for-profit network that includes Dorchester General Hospital and outpatient centers located in Easton, Cambridge, Denton and Centreville. Shore Health System's membership in the University of Maryland Medical System provides access to highly specialized care close to home.
Memorial Hospital recently expanded with a new 31-bed Emergency Department and the Edward B. and Mildred H. Freeman Outpatient Center, which is the main facility for patients coming to the hospital for outpatient services and surgery. In response to the growing need in the region for specialized medical care, Shore Health System has invested in clinical staff, facilities and technology for several centers of medical excellence. Memorial Hospital is a Maryland designated Primary Stroke Center. The Requard Center for Acute Rehabilitation located at Memorial Hospital is a "hospital within a hospital," providing the area's only comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation program. Other specialty services available at Memorial Hospital include the Joint Center, Shore Comprehensive Pain Care, the Wound Healing Center, the Regional Sleep Disorders Center and Shore Regional Breast Center.
In the Memorial Hospital OR, surgeons perform sophisticated general and specialty surgeries with the latest minimally invasive surgical technological, including the da Vinci® Surgical System, which is used for prostate cancer surgery. In Easton, Shore Regional Cancer Center offers diagnosis and treatment with a team of experienced physicians, nurses, radiation therapists, dosimetrists, radiation physicists and social workers who come together to treat the whole person. Shore Home Health and Hospice helps individuals and their caregivers address chronic health issues.
State of the art imaging technology, including digital mammography, MRI, CT and PET CT are available at Memorial Hospital and at the Diagnostic and Imaging in Easton. Digital mammography and a full menu of diagnostic testing are also offered at Dorchester General Hospital and at outpatient centers in Denton and Centreville.
Comprehensive Rehabilitation Care offers physical, occupational and speech therapy at both hospitals and at outpatient centers located in Easton, Cambridge, Centreville and Denton. Specially trained physical therapists work with patients at Dorchester General Hospital, where Shore Health System operates the Eastern Shore's only Balance Center, where patients are evaluated and treated for balance disturbances.
Throughout the year, Shore Health System hosts free community health education and support groups on topics such as labor and delivery, stroke, diabetes, cancer and heart disease.
All of these services and more are supported by Memorial Hospital Auxiliary volunteers, who donate time, knowledge and financial support to ensure that their families, friends and visitors receive the health care they need, every day.
